Tragedy – Slovak man hit by a van of the eucharistic congress died on the spot!
He came to a bachelor party in Budapest but was hit by one of the vans of the 52nd International Eucharistic Congress after trying to cross the Andrássy avenue illegally. He died on the spot despite quick medical help.
According to budapestkornyeke.hu, the van had green light – the police concluded. A small group of Slovak nationals wanted to cross the avenue. One of them, a 30-year-old man, started to run, and that is when the van reached the pedestrian crossing. It hit him so hard that his body thumped the road only 20 metres away, and slid another 20 metres until the entrance door of the Művész Kávéház (Artist’s Café).
The driver of the van tried to help immediately. They called the ambulance, which arrived a couple of minutes later, and struggled for the man’s life for minutes. However, the hit was so hard and his injuries so bad that he could not be stabilised.

The 30-year-old man and his friends came to Hungary for a bachelor party, but the night ended in tragedy – borsonline.hu writes.
The organisers of the 52nd Eucharistic Congress in Budapest were shocked after they heard the sorrowful news. The spokeswoman said that she could hardly imagine how the parents of the victim feel now. “That pain overshadows my heart” – she added. Tünde Zsuppán highlighted that they would like to get into contact with the family of the man. Furthermore, they would like to offer their help in the administration or even paying for the funeral.
She said that on Sunday morning, the organisers prayed for not only the success of the congress but also the victim of the tragedy and his family.
