Hungarian psychiatrists strongly criticise the country’s pedophile law

Change language:

Psychiatrists have strongly criticised the amendment to the law voted by the governing parties.

It has been six months since the child protection, also known as pedophile law was passed and the ruling parties have added passages on the LGBTQ+ community. The Hungarian Psychological Society and the Hungarian Psychiatric Society have recently issued a public statement concerning the law and its effect on LGBTQ+ youth. The statement was posted on their Facebook page.

The most important assertion in the statement is the following:

Law LXXIX of 2021 explicitly puts the mental health of some young people at risk.

As HVG reported, according to the Hungarian Psychiatric Society,

“People belonging to sexual minorities do not choose their own destiny, gender identity or sexual orientation, but it is largely determined by complex biological processes beyond their control.”

The two societies feel like it is their duty to express their “professional position because minority groups in society, people who are different from the majority in some way, may be at increased risk of developing various psychological difficulties because of the stigma they face”.

As Telex wrote, the professional associations of psychologists and psychiatrists also said that “in many cases, the sex determined at birth is not as biologically clear-cut as it might first appear” and that “the development of gender identity is, therefore, a complex and sensitive process, even in purely biological terms, which can change throughout life”.

The Hungarian Psychiatric Society strongly maintains that

“the development of gender identity and sexual orientation cannot be influenced by environmental influences (e.g. education, ‘propaganda’)”.

  1. All one has to do is look what has happened in the US and UK to see how BSC this. Parents should have no say in the education of their children including sex. This seems to priority over reading- math and Science- this has been going on for over 10 years. This seems to be the main focus of thousands of schools my thing that came before was stupid people.

  2. Anyone remember the Section 28 debate? UK – but easily transposed:

Section 28 of the Local Government Act was enacted in May 1988

    • It was brought in to “prohibit the promotion of homosexuality by local authorities”

    • That’s local councils – the organisations responsible for things like social care, rubbish collection and schools

    • The law was partly inspired by a 1983 story book called Jenny Lives with Eric and Martin, which aimed to give children information about different types of family relationships

    • Tory Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher said at the time: “Children who need to be taught to respect traditional moral values are being taught that they have an inalienable right to be gay. All of those children are being cheated of a sound start in life.”

    • There were mass protests by LGBT+ campaigners

    • The law was stopped in Scotland in 2000 and in the rest of the United Kingdom in 2003

    • Thirty years after the law was made, Baroness Knight – the woman largely responsible for introducing it – said she was sorry if the law hurt anyone and that her intention had been the “well-being of children” (many ended up insecure, bullied and / or shamed)

  3. Most of the people in the profession of Psychiatry are cry baby leftist moral degenerates. I would not listen to anything they have to say on this subject. Parents should be the ones to decide what their children are taught about sexuality and when they should be taught about it. Certainly until a child is nearthe age of puberty these discussions should be limited to what the parents want to inform their kids.

  4. Quite a sweeping statement to those of the Psychiatry profession! I do agree that youngsters should be educated at the age of puberty. However, we’ve read previously some parents are embarrassed to even speak about periods with their daughters as it’s a taboo subject in some households. How will they cope with sexual and LGBTQ issues. Think it’s just the government washing their hands. It won’t end well in the long run, suppressing something won’t make it go away. The article Norbert refers to proves that.

  5. I hope Hungary stands strong against the influence of the lgbtq people. They are less than 1 percent of the population trying to force their views on 100 percent of the population. God help us all. lgbtq included. In America they are hurting our children with lies.
