Woman claims nurses hit, humiliated, and starved her mother before her death
A woman shared a tragic and horrifying story with RTL Klub, the most-viewed TV channel in Hungary. The hospital where her mother died claims that they did not find any irregularities.
According to blikk.hu, the woman claims that the nurses and healthcare workers at Ferenc Jahn Hospital Budapest humiliated, hit, and starved her mother in the intensive care department. Later, her mother died. However, the daughter felt
she had to share her mother’s terrifying story with RTL News.
She said that her mother suffered from chronic inflammatory lung disease (COPD) and was put on a ventilator the moment she was hospitalised. Then, doctors performed a laryngectomy on her. As a result, she could not communicate. She got weaker and weaker with each day. Her daughter claims that the healthcare workers did not pay attention to her. She particularly mentioned two nurses. Interestingly, two hospital workers, who wanted to remain anonymous, confirmed that suspicion. They said that they also noticed the rudeness of the two nurses, but they were not brave enough to report it.
“This silence and quiet that is around what had happened… I am, and we all are guilty because we tolerated it,” one of them said in an altered voice to the TV channel’s news.
The nurses said to the woman’s mother that it was useless to pay attention to her because she would inevitably die. Therefore, she decided to take her mother home. That is when she noticed the bruises and bedsores on her mother’s body. Her mother said that the nurses hurt her. She claims that the family regularly visited her mother. However, her mother kept complaining that she did not receive enough food and drink. Therefore, she was continuously hungry.Â
One of the family members took a photo of a sterile bowl, in which a dead bedbug was floating. They showed it to RTL News.
The woman filed a complaint to the hospital but received no reply. RTL News asked the hospital as well. The institution said that they conducted an internal investigation but found no irregularities. They did not mention anything about abuse.
