On Monday, two US B-52H Stratofortress military aircrafts flew over the Hungarian airspace.

As the Hungarian news portal 24.hu reported, the planes departed from the base in Fairford, England, and arrived in the region via Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The two bombers crossed the border at Balassagyarmat at noon.

Last week, a similar aircraft was seen near the Ukrainian border. It flew over Hungary in the north-eastern part of the country and then turned off its beacon in Romania.

According to Wikipédia, the B-52 Stratofortress is one of the world’s best-known heavy bombers. The name Stratofortress refers to the conquest of the stratosphere, while fortress refers to the earlier American heavy bombers B-17 Flying Fortress and B-29 Superfortress. The aircraft entered service in 1955 and was originally planned to remain in service until 2000, but due to budget constraints, it was decided to be upgraded so now it can serve the military until 2045.
