In a video on Facebook, Viktor Orbán said Hungary’s approach to the war in Ukraine was, morally speaking, “as it should be”. Meeting voters in Szentendre, north of Budapest, on Sunday, Orbán said Democratic Coalition leader Ferenc Gyurcsány “tells us that we’re an abysmal nation if we don’t send soldiers or weapons, and if we don’t participate in this war.”
“Let’s be clear: we’re a great nation … We’re helping more than half a million people in need. We’re a great country acting, morally speaking, exactly as we should,” Orbán said. “But let no one ask us to … take part in a war that’s not our war.” “We can see the suffering, but we mustn’t heap ruin on ourselves by sending our children into war we have nothing to do with …” the prime minister said.
MTI reported today that fully 1,169 refugees received help from staff at the BOK sports and events centre serving as a humanitarian transit point on Saturday, including 149 people who spent the night there, the Budapest Metropolitan Government Office said on Sunday.
The round-the-clock facility offers food, interpreters, medical services, internet access and showers, space for mothers with small children, and a children’s play area. Staff are available to help with organising accommodation, travel and administration of asylum applications.
The state-owned Hungarian railways MÁV operates an international ticket office at the transit point where refugees can receive their “solidarity tickets”. Those travelling on are taken by bus to Keleti and Nyugati railway stations and Liszt Ferenc International Airport, and those staying in Hungary receive assistance with finding accommodation, they said.

We know the opposition wouldn’t have said that. Everyone knows not to send NATO troops into Ukraine. Just like the no fly zone, the moment you do either of those things it changes everything. It gives the green light to Russia and becomes the start of WW3. Fidesz should stop the lies now. Signs of desperation from Orban…?
If any NATO troops step into Ukraine it gives Putin the green light, just like enforcing a no fly zone. It would descend into WW3.
The opposition know this, other countries know this, which is why it hasn’t happened. This is nothing more than rhetoric from the PM. Fidesz are really going to scrape the barrel this week……….
