The world is closer than ever to a local conflict becoming world war, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told public radio on Friday.
“Leaders of the western world are gripped by war fever, holding speeches calling for winning the war and making further sacrifices, and sending increasingly dangerous weapons to Ukraine,” Orbán said in an interview. Rather than promoting peace unanimously, the world is divided, Orbán said: Turkic and Arab states, China and African countries want a ceasefire and peace talks, he said.
Hungary must have a strong military and promote peace at the same time, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told public radio on Friday. A country can defend itself if its citizens love their homeland and are ready to defend it in trouble rather than fleeing from it, Orbán said in an interview. Hungary needs an effective Armed Forces, and the government is working to increase the number of troops, their commitment to their homeland and vocation, their level of training, and their public standing, Orbán said. They must also be equipped with modern weapons, he said.
“Being pro-peace doesn’t mean we have to be defenceless,” he said. Leftist parties “are pro-war, and “as long as they are being financed from abroad”, they are expected to stay that way, he said. However, the parliamentary majority ensures a bigger weight to the “party of peace”, Orbán said.

The reality is that today the Hungarian Armed Forces are not capable of defending the country. Given the very small size of the force and the lack of modern weapons (most of which are years away), the Hungarian Military would be unable to defend the country for more than 24-72 hours.
Orbán doesn’t know what ‘principle’ is; what international law breaches require; nor what integrity is either.
Sometimes you just have to take a stand and say enough is enough. What about Orbán’s blindness to the invasion of Georgia in 2008? His blindness to the invasion of Ukraine in 2014 – and his constant dissing of the people of Ukraine? And he’s bromance with Putin?
Orbán is just a Trappista-cheese-eating-surrender monkey.
Putin – ruler of a country widely considered a sxxx-hole, is making Ukraine a sxxx-hole through sheer bombing intensity – and war crimes. Orbán’s inertia re sanctions is a vicarious war crime.
And look out Hungary – Putin has said that your nation is founded on ‘Russian Territory’ ..
Many of us are hoping Putin will invade Hungary soon – which Orbán would welcome! We in the West would breach our article five duty and just let him invade! Yay! And Hungary – yet again – will be on the losing side of history.
Of course Hungary will not be reduced to rubble because Orbán would greet Putin on a white horse – just as Horthy did with Hitler. Hungary is already a sxxx-hole.
Go Putin! Send in your army to Hungary – because Orbán has ‘requested’ your assistance for a special military operation! (Oops, I said it instead of ‘war’ ….oops again!)
Hajrá Magyarok!
“We are closer than ever to world war”:
Makes me feel we are already entering election mode.
What Orbán is saying is that we must keep him in power to avoid us getting more involved, and ONLY he can keep us (Hungary) safe from war, from the nasty EU, NATO, lies-spreading Sweden, Finland, illegal immigrants and that “omnipotent” 93-year-old György Schwartz (Soros) – who has nothing better to do than to “ruin” the country of his birth.
I wonder which philaphropist is Orban going to blame practically everything on once the 93-year-old Soros passes? Will it be Warren Buffet? Will it be Bill (and Melinda) Gates? Will it be Michael Bloomberg or MacKenzie Scott?
PM Orbán, get a move on, your PR people need to plan ahead.
