Double fireworks during 20 August celebrations
On Hungary’s biggest holiday, 20 August, there will be two days of evening fireworks at Lake Balaton. The municipalities will launch the rockets with a delayed start, so you can watch the parade for up to 3 hours.

20 August is the anniversary of the founding of Hungary. Special celebrations are held all over the country, and you can watch fireworks around Lake Balaton for 3 hours.

The list of venues includes Balatonföldvár, Balatonszemes, Balatonlelle, Fonyód, Balatonberény, Keszthely, Szigliget, Zánka, Balatonfüred, Csopak and Alsóörs.
In addition, this year, there will be fireworks not only on 20 August, but also the day before, on 19 August.
A wide range of events in Budapest
There will also be a number programmes waiting for people in Budapest on St. Stephen’s Day. According to kulturvilag.blogstar.hu, there will be more than 20 venues in Budapest with over 100 events to choose from.
On St. Stephen’s Day, there will be a flag-raising ceremony, a parade, an air parade and a procession, while the evening will be rounded off by fireworks. For the Budapest fireworks, 34,000 pyrotechnic effects will light up the capital’s sky from 230 launch points.
On the Promenade of Cities, a spectacular installation of flags of 348 Hungarian cities, counties and 102 towns of historic Hungary will be on display. Hungary’s most famous historical figures will also be on display on Heroes’ Road.
The Street of Hungarian Flavours will once again offer a taste of the gastronomic culture of the Carpathian Basin, as well as the country’s most popular taverns.
The Fashion and Design Festival will be held at a new venue this year, Millenáris Park. In terms of music, Retro Tabán will cater to pop and rock music lovers with a series of concerts.
The Festival of Folk Arts at Buda Castle will also be free of charge this year. Hungary’s biggest folk art festival will take place here, with a thousand of craftsmen from Hungary and abroad.
