PHOTOS: 15-year-old Hungarian boy waves swastika flag, charges brought against him
The Győr District Prosecutor’s Office has charged a 15-year-old boy with using an authoritarian symbol and damaging a monument.
According to the accusation, in July 2022, in the afternoon, the perpetrator had fun with his companions in a park in Győr, and consumed large amounts of alcohol. He then took a flag depicting a swastika from his bag, showed it to passers-by and then stretched it out on a fence in a clearly visible manner, the prosecutor’s office wrote in a statement.
Passers-by informed the police, who eventually removed the flag with the authoritarian symbol.
In October 2022, in the early evening hours, the perpetrator drew nine swastikas on the building of the Győr synagogue with an alcohol-based marker, causing damage of nearly HUF 40,000 (EUR 104).
The prosecutor’s office charged the perpetrator with using an authoritarian symbol and aggravated criminal damage. The Győr District Court is expected to decide on the case.

Freedom of speech must include unpopular topics, otherwise it does not exit. Punish the boy for vandalism but not for thought. Leave that to his parents.
Most of US major universities are chanting gas the Jews and supporting Hamas. Islam has been around thousands of years and controlls half the world population and your worried about a kid and a Nazi flag-I’m sure he could be accepted at Harvard and the NYT would back it up. Nazis lasted around 13 years and the media played a big role. Hitler was Time magazines man of the year.
The important questions are from whom did this 15 year old learn this Nazi behaviour and from whom did he obtain the swastika flag? There are Hungarian adults behind this kind of indoctrination. There was a three day conference of neo-Nazis in Sopron only last month. Orban pardoned a neo-Nazi terrorist last spring. Is it a surprise that something like this happens when the Fidesz government behind the scenes allows these Nazis to operate in Hungary?
Why refer to the symbol as only, authoritarian? Use the most specific and correct term first, Leftist or Socialist then use the word authoritarian as an additional descriptor. Thus Leftist, authoritarian symbol or Socialist, authoritarian symbol fully describes the NAZI swastika.
