Russian discount chain recruiting in Hungary with dream salaries!
Mere, a Russian discount chain promising to rival the low prices offered by Aldi, Lidl and Tesco, is already in the process of recruiting employees in Hungary. The minimalist Russian retailer aims to conquer Hungary after encountering limited success in Western Europe.
The Russian discount chain will be exceptionally cheap
As we reported last week, Mere intends to launch several stores in Hungary, positioning itself as a competitor to leading German and British supermarket chains. Its business model, unique in Europe, focuses on cutting unnecessary expenses such as elaborate decoration and offering a streamlined product selection while slashing prices by 15-20% below the market average. This strategy could resonate particularly well in poorer regions of Hungary.

New promising job offers
On the recruitment front, telex.hu reports that preparations for market entry are already underway, with Mere establishing a subsidiary in Hungary staffed by 11 employees. Job adverts placed by TS Retail Ltd., a Hungarian-registered company, offer positions with salaries starting at HUF 500,000 (EUR 1,300), plus bonuses for purchasing managers. Responsibilities include sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts and monitoring competitors, with working hours restricted to the standard 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Interested applicants are instructed to submit their CVs to a Russian email address.

Mere’s ownership lies with Hung Trade DOO Beograd, primarily controlled by Sergei Schneider (79%) and Andrei Schneider (15%), alongside Valery Yakovlev (6%), who collectively oversee the Mere discount chain. Despite inquiries from telex.hu, further details regarding Mere’s plans remain undisclosed.

Embracing a no-frills approach characterised by minimalist design, limited staffing and no customer service, Mere’s outlets resemble warehouses, appealing particularly to lower-income demographics seeking significant savings.

The anticipated arrival of Mere in the Hungarian market may catalyse price reductions among established supermarket chains, benefitting consumers. Plans are underway for Mere’s first store opening in Budapest.

Bulk Buying only ?
Will Fidesz apply the same 4.5% surtax on the Russian chain that it does on Western grocery chains or will it be mafia discrimination of the market place to force Spar out and bring the Russians in?
This chain should be boycotted..give Russia a message..you are not wanted.
The Word Sanction – never heard out of the Orban – Fidesz Government being APPLIED against the name Russia in any shape or form in Hungary.
This must STILL “linger” in anger of many countries under Democracy, not just the European Union.
Orban – Fidesz Government have just post the commencement of the Russian War on the Ukraine, grown DEEPER in relationship with Russia and China, that in the case of Russia never embracing joining in being a “team member player” – with all other countries that are Democracies, and placing SANCTIONS on Russia.
This “planed” new Russian Supermarket operation arrival into Hungary, sooner than later, just another demonstration, of the Orban – Fidesz Government of Hungary that DISPLAYS that Victor Orban “Surges on” – in his Distillation of Democracy, working in with, bowing to, bending over to, the Communistic practice of the Russian Government, and in “other” areas we know of Orbans approval with China, that just are SWAMPING Hungary.
It’s Diabolical what is HAPPENING in our Faces, which will not have a pleasant HAPPY ending, and in the continuation of what grows in momentum aligning with Russia and China, the effects on millions of Hungarians will be cataclysmic, bringing deepening pain and un-certainty of the FUTURE of Hungary.
Patrick Condom, you say fun things :))) Then probably the Western World should stop purchasing anything from Russia. But it continues doing that with even increased pace… therefore these words regarding boycott sounds really funny. Boycott – what for? In order for what?
Mat – Interesting and I do have a ‘tinge” of agreement, in your comment reply to Patrick, on this Sanctioning and Boycotting, on “Mother” Russia – the OLD Aged thing, of Governments in FACT – it is “Older than Methuselah” – appearing making themselves, giving citizens tax payers the image of being pro-active or DOING Something.
That’s my position on Russian Sanctions & Boycotting by the Western World.
It’s ALL breaking it down, dissecting it, getting down to the real “guts” of the matter subject – just another era in the on-going Global Theatre World, or episode in.
This shouldn’t be allowed! There must be no tolerance towards russian expansion (including economic). I cannot imagine a nazi German-owned business to be opened in Europe during WWII!!
Has no one recognized that “Mere” is used to emphasize how small or insignificant someone or something is.
