BREAKING: Hungary blocks Ukrainian news outlets in a move of retaliation
Gergely Gulyás, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office, announced on his Facebook page that Hungary has blocked a dozen Ukrainian news outlets in a move grounded in the principle of reciprocity.

As Ukraine pushes to join the European Union, it has taken the drastic step of blocking foreign— including Hungarian—online news outlets, Gulyás explained. These sites reportedly criticised the EU’s sanctions against Russia and Ukraine’s military support, while portraying the EU and NATO as fractured and largely ineffective. However, Gulyás insists that the real reason behind Ukraine’s actions was the coverage highlighting the influence of the Soros network.

In response, Hungary has imposed mirror measures, rendering several Ukrainian news portals inaccessible within Hungarian borders, the minister stated on behalf of the government. Gulyás also expressed scepticism about Hungarians’ interest in these sites, specifically naming Ukrainian Pravda. He emphasised that a sovereign nation must respond proportionately to what he calls “an utterly unjustified attack.” Earlier today, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán sparked controversy by refusing to recognise Ukraine as fully sovereign, claiming Kyiv relies heavily on Western arms and funding. Without support from the West and the EU, Orbán suggested, Ukraine would collapse.

“Soros Foundation should be blocked”
Gulyás further argued that the EU’s internal divisions over Ukraine do not justify Ukrainian censorship. If President Zelensky’s administration disagrees, he said, they should reconsider their EU membership bid, warning that Ukraine’s accession would only deepen EU divisions.
He also urged Ukraine to block interference by the Soros Foundation in other countries’ domestic affairs instead of suppressing free speech about it.

If your country is under attack by Russia why would you allow pro-Russian news outlets to broadcast in your country? Ukraine is in an existential fight for its’ survival and Hungarian directed Kremlin propaganda needs to be kept out of the country. That propaganda has already done its’ damage on the Hungarian population in Hungary. Hungary is far from neutral in this conflict. It actively supports Russia in its’ attempt to take over Ukraine.
