Hungarian government’s recipe for 2026 success: no migrants, no war, more Russian energy

Brussels consistently gives the wrong answers to crucial issues such as war, migration, and energy security, thereby hindering the prosperity of the European people and essentially jeopardising the future of the entire continent, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on Tuesday.
Migrants flood the streets of western cities, says the Hungarian government
In a post on Facebook, Szijjártó said the Brussels leadership’s “failed record” was clear, with European countries drifting closer to war every day, and “while migrants flood the streets of western cities, household energy bills are skyrocketing across the continent”.
“By contrast, we Hungarians were the first to stand up and make it clear that we would stay out of the war, not accept a single migrant, and not give up Russian energy sources, thus preserving Europe’s lowest utility costs,” he said.
“We have a national government, so we stand on the ground of common sense and reality, taking into account only one consideration: the interests of the Hungarian people,” he added.
Szijjártó said that Brussels’ “failed policy” had been increasingly obvious, while “it is clear that the voice of the people cannot be suppressed; a patriotic revolution has begun across Europe”. “Hungarians are no longer alone, and in more and more countries, the realisation is gaining ground that only national governments are capable of halting our continent’s downward spiral,” Szijjártó said.
Brussels’ recipe
He added that this was the reason why next year’s election was so important to Brussels. “They want to get us out of the way, because the Hungarian government clearly refutes the policies that have plunged Europe into crisis, and they see that more and more countries are following Hungary’s example,” he said.
“We know Brussels’ recipe: a puppet government that is obedient on everything, where Brussels’ instructions take precedence over national interests,” Szijjártó said. “To fall in line with the mainstream, send money, weapons, and soldiers to Ukraine, let in migrants, and wean off Russian energy, even if gas and electricity cost three times as much.”
2026 elections
What’s at stake in the 2026 election is whether Hungary will stay out of the war or get dragged into it, he said. “Do we keep migrants out or let them in? Do we protect utility price cuts or let energy prices skyrocket? In short: will the country be led by a national government or will a puppet government await instructions,” he added.
