Festival of Colours celebrated with music, dance, and cultural performances in Budapest – photos, video

The Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre (ASCC) of the Embassy of India in Budapest celebrated the vibrant Indian festival of Holi – the Festival of Colours – on 14 March 2026 at the Embassy premises. The event brought together members of the Indian community, friends of India, diplomats, journalists, and India lovers in a joyful celebration of culture, music, and friendship.

Festival of Colours: triumph of good over evil

The programme began with the arrival and welcoming of guests, followed by an introduction highlighting the significance of Holi as one of India’s most joyful and widely celebrated festivals. Holi symbolizes the arrival of spring, the triumph of good over evil, and the renewal of hope, happiness, and human connections.

The celebrations formally commenced with an opening address by H.E. Mr. Anshuman Gaur, Ambassador of India to Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina, who welcomed the gathering and spoke about the cultural significance of the festival and its spirit of unity and friendship.

Special Holi snacks, joyful atmosphere

The cultural segment of the programme featured dance performances by the ASCC’s dance teacher and students, presenting artistic expressions inspired by the spirit of Holi. A lively Holi medley, featuring a vibrant fusion of classical, folk, and Bollywood dance traditions, reflected the diverse ways in which Holi is celebrated across India. The performance captured the festive energy of the festival through music, rhythm, and expressive dance movements.
