Péter Magyar: EU flag to return to parliament

Change language:

At the inaugural session of Hungary’s parliament, the European Union flag will be restored to the facade of the Parliament building, alongside the Hungarian and Szekler flags, prime minister-elect Péter Magyar wrote in a Facebook post on Friday.

President of the Republic Tamás Sulyok has scheduled the inaugural session of the new parliament for May 9, the Hungarian News Agency wrote.

The Fidesz Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, László Kövér, removed the EU flags from the Hungarian Parliament in January 2012, stating that it was not obligatory to display them. Later, he removed all the flags from the office building of the Hungarian MPs, known as the White House.

Property developers focus on future professional cooperation with new cabinet

The Property Developers Roundtable Association (IFK) is hoping the new Tisza government’s economic policy directions will include a predictable and stable regulatory environment and is focusing on future professional cooperation with it, the association told MTI on Friday.

IFK said development decisions are made several years in advance, so predictable and sustainable economic conditions are key for investment planning. A stable regulatory environment encourages the launch of new projects and strengthens the long-term commitment of market players.

In the residential market, a permanently predictable 5pc VAT rate could contribute to the expansion of supply, the association said. The revival of projects could have a positive impact across the construction sector as a whole and on employment, investments and Hungary’s competitiveness.

IFK noted that the limited capacities of the construction industry must be taken into account when planning public investments, therefore conscious capacity planning and anti-cyclical investment policy are needed when using European Union development funds.

IFK is ready to support expert-based government decision-making as a constructive professional partner.

  1. There must be some secret chamber somewhere in Parliament where Fidesz kept a Russian flag that their members paid homage to. I would ask the new Tisza government that the 1956 memorial that was removed by the Russian Fidesz traitors be restored to the front of Parliament
