They helped the Hungarian press in 2016

Hvg.hu writes that Miklós Seszták, Minister for National Development, was awarded with a prize for the “helping of press-work” and he seemed to be flattered. The acknowledgement was given by an organisation called Press Trade Union and the publisher of Diplomatic Magazine.

It was the 17^th time that the Press Trade Union and the publisher of Diplomatic Magazine awarded the “For the helping of press-work” prize by the decision of the advisory board. The prizes were given on the 22^nd of August.

The prize is usually given to people who contributed to the representation of the press workers’ interest and to the support of their work in a large way with their everyday work.

In 2016, Miklós Seszták, Minister for National Development and the member of parliament on the side of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County, Roman Kowalski, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Hungary, István Csonka, the deputy managing director of the Groupama Insurance Company and Sándor Balogh, the president of the African-Hungarian Union came in for the award.

The acknowledgements were handed to the prized by the founders of the award: László M. Lengyel, the co-president of the Press Trade Union and István Fodros, the director-editor in chief of Diplomatic Magazine.

444.hu flashed some details of István Fodros’ career: he graduated at the Diplomacy Academy of Moscow, he worked at the Information Council of the Cabinet until 1980, then at the press department of KGST (Comecon) and later he was the main organiser of 1986’s beauty queen election in Hungary. He was then expelled from MSZP. In a 1989 interview he said that he would debunk his superiors, when it turned out that he had worked for KGB (State Security Committee).

After the change of regime, he worked as the editor in chief of Pszt!, Szuper Pszt, Sztár Revü Magazine, Hekus and finally Diplomatic Magazine, while obtaining the honorary consul post of Sao Tomé and Principe Democratic Republic. He was awarded with the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary in the April of 2009.
