MPs hold group meetings before start of parliament’s autumn session
Budapest, August 27 (MTI) – The parliamentary groups of governing Fidesz-KDNP and the opposition Socialists, Jobbik and LMP will hold group meetings in the capital and elsewhere before the start of the autumn session on September 12.
Fidesz-KDNP MPs will meet in Balatonfüred, on Lake Balaton, on September 7-9, the parliamentary group’s press department told MTI. The agenda has not been finalised yet, but the referendum on mandatory resettlement quotas as well as the restructuring of the education and healthcare systems are sure to be discussed.
Socialist MPs will meet in September 5-6 in Visegrád, north of the capital, the party’s spokesperson said. They will discuss steps against government corruption, low wages, the “ruinous state” of the healthcare and education systems, and the referendum, said Bernadett Budai.
MPs of Jobbik will meet in Dunakiliti, in the west of the country, on September 7-9, the deputy head of the party’s parliamentary group told MTI. There they will discuss healthcare, education, corruption and wage rises, said Gergely Farkas. The MPs will also take a formal vote on János Volner taking over leadership of the parliamentary group, he added.
Small opposition LMP lawmakers will meet in the capital in the first half of September, party spokesman József Gál told MTI. They will endorse the candidate to replace former party leader András Schiffer, he said. LMP earlier chose Ákos Hadházy as the party’s co-leader and fifth MP, but he may not officially become a member of the parliamentary group until he takes his oath, when parliament first meets for the autumn session. The parliamentary group’s deputy head is Erzsébet Schmuck.
The government issued its legislation programme for the autumn session in mid-June. It aims to put 54 pieces of legislation to a vote during the period.
