65kg WWII bomb found in Budapest, 500 houses evacuated
Budapest, September 29 (MTI) – A WWII Soviet bomb weighing 65 kilos was found at a house in Budapest’s 15th district on Thursday morning. Police have begun evacuating the area, a spokeswoman for the Hungarian army said.
The FAB 50 avia bomb containing 25 kilos of explosives was found during refurbishment works on the residential house, the spokeswoman said.
Police have cordoned off the site in the area of which 500 houses and a health institution had to be evacuated, she said.
Explosives experts are working on the site disassembling the device, she said.
