Crime in Budapest – These districts are the most dangerous

Index.hu writes that Budapest is much more affected by crime than countryside settlements: last year only 300 registered crime fell on 10 thousand dwellers elsewhere, while this number reaches 500 in Budapest. It also turned out from HVG’s analysis that the most crimes were committed in the 5th and 6th districts.
The situation is bad in the capital city for several reasons. Firstly, tourists attract thieves and secondly, the entertainment places of the party districts are characterised by plundering, pickpocketing and public nuisance.
In 2015, the number of assault and battery grew by 50%, while the number of public nuisance grew by 60% in the 5th district. According to HVG, another reason why the 5th district is in the lead is that most financial institutions have their headquarters here, so nearly all economic crimes are registered there.
The notorious 8th district is only the third on the list of dangerous districts, however, most registered criminals (174) live there and most murders (5) were committed there in 2015. Also, it is definitely the most dangerous district in absolute value: 1049 crimes fell on 10 thousand dwellers. The statistics are based on the terminated investigations in the given year.
