Orbán held talks with Macedonia’s former prime minister Nikola Gruevski

Budapest, November 18 (MTI) – Macedonia can continue to rely on Hungary’s support in its efforts to join the European Union and NATO, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Friday after talks with Macedonia’s former prime minister Nikola Gruevski.

Orbán noted at a press conference that Macedonia will soon hold parliamentary elections and the decision was in the hands of the people of Macedonia. What is certain is that “if Macedonia wants to become a member of the EU and NATO, it can always rely on Hungary’s friendship”, he added.

“Hungary and Macedonia both belong in the West,” Orbán said. He said Hungarian-Macedonia relations had reached an “all-time high” during the premiership of Gruevski. The two countries developed “a true and honest friendship” during that time, he added.

Gruevski called Hungary one of Macedonia’s main allies, adding that there was high-level cooperation between the two countries.
