Get on the light tram, the most Christmassy vehicle of Budapest
Index.hu writes that the Budapest Transport Corporation has announced that the anticipated light tram starts circulating on the 5th of December. The festive vehicle is decorated on the inside and outside as well, and it will transport passengers until the 6th of January, 2017.
The Christmassy tram was launched in 2009 and it has been an absolute success ever since. In the beginning, it only circulated on the line of tram 2, but this year it will also be circulating on the lines of tram 4, 14, 19, 47, 50, 56A and 59 (except for the 24th and 31st of December).
The UV tram of two rail-motors is decorated with a 3,500 metres long light string and 39,200 white and blue LED lights. For that matter, the UV trains were replaced by combinos in 2007, so the remaining (2) vehicles in working order are used as nostalgy trams.
The light tram will be circulating the most frequently on line 2, but you’ll be able to get on line 19 on the 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th of December and the 6th of January; line 50 on the 10th of December; line 59 on the 11th of December; line 14 on the 17th of December; line 47 on the 18th on December; line 56A on the 25th of December and line 4 on the 1st of January. It will start every day after 5 pm and you can ride it with normal tickets!
