Govt mulls lowering VAT on sour cream, cottage cheese, pork organs in 2018
Budapest, January 3 (MTI) – The government is working to lower the value-added tax on sour cream, cottage cheese and pork organs next year, the farm ministry told daily Magyar IdÅ‘k on Tuesday.
The VAT on poultry, eggs and milk was reduced on January 1.
The reductions are expected to bring retail prices down, as well as to help whiten the economy.
Attila Csorbai, head of the poultry product council, told the paper that the lower VAT is “not worth evading” and suggested that “retail prices could go down after a while”.
