Almost two-thirds of Hungarians unhappy with past year
Budapest (MTI) – Almost two-thirds of Hungarians surveyed by Ipsos had a negative view of the past year in Hungary.
Fully 62 percent thought things had gone badly in the country while 31 percent were positive, the pollster said on Thursday.
Negative voices tended to be among opposition respondents. Fully 74 percent of radical nationalist Jobbik and 92 percent of Socialist Party supporters were downbeat while 73 percent of ruling party supporters said 2014 has been a successful year.
Asked about their jobs and finances, 51 percent were satisfied with the past year while 41 percent were not. Differences in the answers could be tied to levels of education: the dissatisfied tended to be low-skilled. Two-thirds of respondents with higher education, on the other hand, reported a good year job-wise.
Fully 58 percent had no major health problems during the year while 38 percent, a relatively high ratio, reported health problems in the past year.
The survey was conducted with a representative sample of 1,000 adults in the first half of December.
