American Hungarian Federation criticises US steps
Budapest, November 6 (MTI) – The American Hungarian Federation has voiced criticism of US steps taken in connection with Hungary, involving an entry ban on certain officials, business daily Napi Gazdasag said on Thursday.
In a letter addressed to Victoria Nuland, the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, two heads of the federation said recent actions by the US could increase anti-US and anti-NATO sentiment in Hungary.
In the letter, a copy of which was acquired by the paper, they asked Nuland why the US took such resolute steps against Hungary when international research shows that Hungary is by far not among the most corrupt countries in central and eastern Europe.
