Angela Merkel Is Arriving in a Turbulent Budapest
Two Facebook group are organizing a protest against the new tax plans of the government and the limiting of the demonstration rights. The rally will be held one day before the visit of the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Origo.hu says.
Two organization known from Facebook would hold a demonstration on Februrary 1 afternoon: „Hundreds of thousands against the internet tax” and „60 thousand for our private pension” would protest one day before the Budapest visit of the Chancellor. This is how they want to draw attention to the – according to them – oppressive policy of Viktor Orban.
“We will defend our country’s reputation” – a message from the organizers, who are protesting against the demolition of democracy, the impoverishing policy and the limitation of the right to assembly.
According to Origo.hu, the latter may target that Gergely Gulyas, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament said in his interview given to Nepszabadsag: many outstanding issues should be clarified in relation to the right to assembly, such as the announcement and duration of demonstrations held at the same time and place.
Gergely Gulyas regards the misuse of the right to assembly, if someone is holding a protest for months, setting up a tent camp in front of the Parliament.
