The Satys Group, an international company with a French background engaged in painting, maintenance and refurbishment of aircrafts, is moving in to Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. Their new paint hangar, located next to the aircraft maintenance hangars between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, will be able to accommodate two Boeing 737-900 or two Airbus A321 type aircraft for simultaneous painting.
Budapest Airport and the Satys Group signed an agreement whereby the aircraft maintenance giant will establish a new painting hangar at the Hungarian capital city airport. The hangar is designed to enable the simultaneous painting of two Boeing 737-900 or two Airbus A321 type aircraft. Satys’s new Budapest base will further enhance the airport’s actual MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) services. The new hangar will be financed by Budapest Airport, and is planned to be handed over by the end of 2020.
This development fits perfectly with the strategy of Budapest Airport to support the aviation community by providing the very best infrastructure and business environment together with the MRO companies already located at Budapest Airport (Aeroplex and Lufthansa Technik).
The aviation community warmly welcomes this development since the service portfolio combined with aircraft painting will be unique in Europe. The combined services grant the airline customers a much faster service at just one location instead of taxiing an aircraft to another location in Europe for painting.
Christophe Cador, Chief Executive Officer and the Group’s founder said: “Budapest Airport is a strategic location for the Satys Group with the presence of 3 major actors in aeronautical maintenance (Lufthansa, Aeroplex and Wizzair) who previously didn’t have any painting hangars.
This painting hangar is part of the development strategy of the Satys Business Unit Aftermarket & VIP Painting, which will double its turnover in the next 3 years.”
Dr. Rolf Schnitzler, the CEO of Budapest Airport emphasized: “We are delighted to welcome the Satys Group to Budapest Airport. We are certain that Budapest Airport will be an excellent location for Satys to open a new base, as, thanks to the specialized vocational trainings in Hungary, there are highly skilled professionals in the labor market, working in the high-precision world of the MRO sector, which provides excellent career opportunities for them later on. The opening of Satys’s new paint hangar is the perfect fit for the actual MRO portfolio at BUD, and will further strengthen the role of Budapest in the international aircraft maintenance market.”
Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Government of Hungary said: „The announcement by Satys and Budapest Airport marks a new chapter in the Hungarian aviation industry as the new aircraft painting facility combined with the existing classical maintenance services at one location will be unique in Europe. Satys is the second French aviation industry investor choosing Hungary after Airbus Helicopters. The decision of the French industrial group reaffirms our foreign direct investment strategy and in particular our specific focus on the creation of high quality technology-related workplaces.”
Satys is an international company based in France, present in 14 countries across the globe with 73 sites in Europe, North America, the Middle East, Asia and Africa and operates 24 painting hangars. The group employs more than 3 000 people worldwide and performs the complete maintenance and refurbishment of aircraft, including painting, sealing, the engineering and manufacturing of airline and VIP aircraft interiors.
