Attention! Extreme cold hit Hungary
The so-called ‘red code’ entered into effect on Monday due to the extreme cold. The measure means that the daytime temperatures will remain between -3 and +3 °C. Additionally, night temperatures will dip between -10 and -5 °C, with some areas experiencing even lower readings.
According to portfolio.hu, today’s daytime temperatures will hover between -3 and +3 °C, while night temperatures are expected to be in the range of -9 to -1 °C. Cloudy conditions are anticipated in the West and South, accompanied by possible snowfall and strong, occasionally stormy winds.
By the afternoon, clouds are expected to clear, and precipitation is unlikely.
The Hungarian Interior Ministry implemented the red code in Hungary on Monday at 8.00 p.m. This entails that all social care institutions must provide shelter for the homeless or those in trouble.
This precautionary measure will remain in force until 8.00 a.m. on Saturday.
