A Hungarian man wanted to blow up his apartment in the heart of Budapest, in the middle of the famous party district popular among foreign visitors.
Police have taken into custody a 48-year-old Hungarian man suspected of trying to blow up his apartment in Budapest’s famous Kertész Street. Ferenc Rab, a deputy spokesman of the Budapest Public Prosecutor’s Office (Fővárosi Főügyészség) said that the court agreed to their proposal about taking the suspect to a mental hospital. The suspect and his lawyer acknowledged the decision.
Based on the suspicion, the man turned the gas tap on in his apartment. Furthermore, he used his lighter to start a fire. Afterwards, he left his home. Three apartments were damaged because of the fire, and all were filled with smoke.
Even though fire extinguishers managed to put out the fire in the end, seven apartments had to be emptied in the block, and many people had to be evacuated, 24.hu said.
