Bomb threat sparks police hunt in Budapest – Man arrested within 30 minutes!

A tense evening in Csepel, District XXI of Budapest, turned into a swift police operation after a 44-year-old man phoned in a bomb threat, claiming to have planted explosives in multiple letterboxes. The authorities acted quickly, arresting the suspect less than half an hour later, only to discover the alarming claim was completely false.

According to the police, on the evening of 11 October 2025, at 8:43 PM, a man called the police claiming to have placed bombs in multiple letterboxes at an address in Csepel. The rapid-response officers promptly went to the scene, but no explosive devices were found, and the threat was determined to be unfounded.
The Budapest Police Headquarters’ (BRFK) officers in District XXI quickly identified the caller and arrested 44-year-old László M. at his home in Csepel at 9:10 PM, just under half an hour after the call. He was taken to the district police station, questioned as a suspect on suspicion of public danger threats, and subsequently taken into custody. The investigation into the case has now begun.
No injuries or damage
Fortunately, no injuries or damage occurred during the incident. Thanks to the swift and effective actions of the authorities, public safety was maintained. The police continue to treat all such reports seriously, regardless of their veracity, to protect public order.
