Border closures between Hungary and Austria in effect from today

Hungary’s national police headquarters (ORFK) has announced the closure of some crossings along the border with Austria from midnight on Friday.

ORFK said Austrian authorities had informed the police of restrictions on cross-border traffic to contain the spread of foot-and-mouth disease.

Travel of persons and vehicles has been suspended at the border crossings Andau – Jánossomorja, Andau – Kapuvár, Wallern – Kapuvár, Baumgarten – Sopron, Ritzing (Helenenschacht) – Sopron (Brennbergbanya), Sieggraben (Herrentisch) – Sopron (Gorbehalomtelep), Nikitsch – Sopronkövesd, Deutsch Jahrndorf – Rajka, Nickelsdorf – Rajka, Deutschkreutz – Harka, Neckenmarkt – Harka, Deutschkreutz – Nagycenk, Halbturn – Várbalog, Halbturn – Várbalog (Albertkazmerpuszta), Klostermarienberg – Ólmod, Loipersbach – Ágfalva, Schattendorf – Ágfalva, Lutzmannsburg – Zsira, Lutzmannsburg (Rebberg) – Zsira, Lutzmannsburg (Therme) – Zsira and Nikitsch – Zsira.

Longer waiting times can be expected at crossings that continue to operate, ORFK added.
