Budapest bids to host World Food Programme service centre
Budapest (MTI) – The government has approved a bid by Budapest to host the World Food Programme’s (WFP) service centre, the official gazette Magyar Közlöny said on Tuesday.
The detailed bid will be submitted to WFP’s managing director by February 15. If Budapest wins, the economy minister will be in charge of allocating funds for setting up and operating the centre from 2017.
The WFP is the food assistance branch of the United Nations and its operations are funded by voluntary donations from governments, corporations and private donors around the world.
