Iván Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra (BFO) will give a free open-air concert at Heroes’ Square on the evening of Sept 12 to open the autumn season, the orchestra said ina statement on Friday.
The concert begins at 6.30pm and will feature Schubert’s Eighth, the Unfinished Symphony, as well as works by Arvo Part and Prokofiev. The BFO Children’s Choir will perform the Part piece in the original Estonian under Fischer’s baton.
The organisers said the concert is primarily aimed at families and the youngest music lovers. The BFO’s new children’s choir will also make its debut at the event.
The concert is free to attend, and no registration is required. The organisers ask the audience to arrive early for better seating, and cardboard chairs will be provided on site, which can be taken home after the concert.
