Budapest hosts Photo Street at weekend
(MTI) – Two major Budapest photography exhibition spaces will open their doors to the public free of charge at the weekend.
The Capa Centre and Mai Mano House are participating in the event dubbed Photo Street in Budapest. Mai Mano House, celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, will reveal the history of its art nouveau building starting on Friday, and visitors can also peep into the evolution of photo making from the archaic techniques to the digital age, the organisers said.
There will also be a retrospective of the works of Mai (1855-1917), whose one-time studio now serves as the gallery. DJ-VJ Zagar, a pop musician, will use the centre’s photos in his performance to give the public “a different interpretation of photo reading”, Capa Centre deputy director Istvan Viragvolgyi told MTI.
