Budapest, November 3 (MTI) – A smog warning has been issued in Budapest since the concentration of dust particles has not fallen to the desired level over the past few days, the mayor’s office said today.
Authorities measured concentrations of dust particles that exceeded “warning level”, which means it can be dangerous for sensitive groups such as children, the elderly or people with chronic illnesses. Especially high readings were reported at the Honved sports facility in the 13th district, Erzsebet square in the central 5th district and Dezso Kosztolanyi square in the 11th district.
The smog alert was implemented on Sunday morning until further notice. Residents are advised to avoid the polluted areas and to refrain from using private vehicles.
