A car crashed into a tram stop at Blaha Lujza Square in central Budapest on Sunday evening, shattering one of the shelter’s large glass panels and triggering an emergency response.
According to Hungary’s National Directorate General for Disaster Management, the incident occurred in Budapest’s 8th district, where a passenger vehicle ploughed into the tram stop.
Glass shelter destroyed in the collision
The impact completely shattered a large glass panel at the busy public transport stop. Emergency medical services were called to assist a passenger who had been waiting at the tram stop when the crash occurred. Authorities have not yet released information about the person’s condition or whether anyone else was injured.
Firefighters secured the scene
Professional firefighters from Budapest were dispatched to the location and disconnected the vehicle’s battery to eliminate any electrical hazards.
