Children’s Day for the 25th time in City Park

This year, International Children’s Safety Service (NGYSZ) and the local government of Budapest organize their two-day Children’s Day in Városliget (City Park), where several free cultural and educational programs are waiting for the families on May 30 and 31, szinhaz.hu said.

Children can participate in, among others, free dental screenings; they can learn the Highway Code (KRESZ), listen to concerts and test their skills at quizzes. “This year, we host 500 needy children in addition to Budapest, from Pecs, Papa, Transylvania, Upper Hungary, Voivodina and Transcarpathia” – Alexandra Szalay-Bobrovniczky, Deputy Lord Mayor said at the press conference of the event on Thursday.

She recalled the local government signed a contract with child rescue service, and accordingly, it supports the event with HUF 18 million, which hosted almost 400 thousand children with their families last year.

According to szinhaz.hu, Peter Edvi, Presidentof NGYSZ said: in addition to the entertainment, important elements of the program are the education and the promotion of physical and mental health, so there will be demonstrations on the safe Internet use and they also organize lectures and games around the topic.

The President of NGYSZ emphasized that many elements of the event can be realized by the courtesy of the sponsors, for example the mobile dental bus equipped and has been operated for 20 years by OTP Bank; and the MobileKids (MoKi) program launched by Mercedes-Benz, which draws the attention of children between 4 and 10 to the important questions of traffic safety.

Peter Edvi also spoke about that several embassies, cultural institutes will present the traditions of their countries on the event, and the foreign representations will perform dance and music programs on the stage of the embassies. The German Lochberg Regional Dance Group, Csíkszentdomokos, Indonesian and Tatar children will also present their productions, Cuecas folk dance group from Chile and Latin American performers will act too.

On the NGYSZ children’s stage, Oradea Szigligeti Theatre Lilliput Company, Denes Pal, Kolompos, MintaPinty and Reparetekmogyoro will perform among others. On the small stage, artists of the Budapest Operetta Theater, Hungarian Defence Forces military bands and Aranyszamar Theater will give a show.

In the City Park, there will be horse therapy demonstration, Children’s Day football cup, the Hungarian Cross will wait the volunteers between 15 and 60 for blood donation, but Dog Chow Dog Sport Picninc in May will be organized again. Children under 3 can play developing games on the baby meadow.
