Christian Democrat scorns Soros’s migrant proposals
Budapest, July 1 (MTI) – Recent pro-migration proposals made by “currency speculator” George Soros at a hearing in Brussels would be bad for Hungarians, a co-ruling Christian Democrat lawmaker said on Friday.
If Soros’s ideas were put into practice, a massive flow of migrants into the European Union and Hungary would result, István Hollik told a press conference.
Soros has suggested raising new taxes and issuing bonds to support incoming migrants, he said.
His idea to cut cohesion funding and divert some farming subsidies from central and eastern European member states to a fund for migrants is also “unacceptable”, Hollik said, adding that the EU should firmly reject Soros’s proposals.
