Court Rejects LMP Data Request For Paks Contract

LMP

(MTI) – The Municipal Court of Budapest has rejected a request by the green opposition LMP party for access to information regarding the government’s expansion of the Paks nuclear plant.

Bernadett Szel, LMP’s co-leader, had asked the National Development Ministry in January to share the Hungarian-Russian contract on the Paks upgrade as well as related documents such as impact studies and risk analysis.

The ministry had turned down the request on the ground that it is material used in preparation for decision-making, an argument which the court accepted.

The ruling is appealable.
