Zsolt Hegedűs, Hungary’s incoming health minister, once again set social media alight after recreating his now-iconic victory dance during a massive celebration on Budapest’s Kossuth Square on Saturday — this time with British singer Jalja performing live beside him.

Zsolt Hegedűs shows us once again why he will be health minister

The spontaneous performance came after the inaugural session of Hungary’s new parliament, as supporters of Péter Magyar and the incoming Tisza government gathered for what many described as a “regime-change celebration” in front of the Parliament building.

Jalja performed a live version of The Hanging Tree remix — the same song that accompanied Hegedűs’ viral election-night dance after the Tisza Party’s landslide victory in April, which even The Telegraph and the Economic Times reported about. As soon as the first notes began playing, the atmosphere in the square erupted, with crowds turning toward the stage and cheering as the incoming health minister broke into his trademark moves once again.

The whole parliamentary group joined him

Videos shared online show Hegedűs dancing energetically on the Parliament steps while Péter Magyar and several members of the Tisza parliamentary group joined in the celebrations. Later, Hegedűs walked over to Jalja during the performance, danced alongside the singer, hugged her after the song, and posed for a selfie that quickly spread across social media:

According to reports, the politician had earlier been asked by journalists whether he had practised for another dance appearance. Hegedűs replied that the original performance had been completely spontaneous and that such moments either “come naturally or not at all.”

The now-famous dance first went viral on election night, when footage of the tall, dark-shirted politician celebrating the Tisza Party’s victory circulated worldwide. International outlets also reported on the unusual celebration, helping turn Hegedűs into an unexpected internet sensation.

Fans online praised the latest appearance as one of the defining moments of the evening, while many shared clips of the dancing minister and the enormous crowd gathered in front of the Hungarian Parliament.
