DK announces Klára Dobrev as prime ministerial candidate for opposition primary
Opposition Democratic Coalition (DK) announced on Sunday that Klára Dobrev will be the party’s prime ministerial candidate for the opposition primary planned to take place in the autumn.
The official announcement was made at an online event.
Dobrev said she had accepted the party board’s invitation and was ready to run. She said she was ready to unite the diverse opposition against Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and was also ready to defeat the prime minister and “his utterly corrupt regime” next spring. The next government, she insisted, “must take Hungary back to the main street of history, which we call Europe”.
Dobrev said
the government, which had “pretended to be strong and able” turned out to be “weak and unable” during the pandemic when “the Hungarian state gradually fell to pieces”.
The government’s policies have led to a “national tragedy with nearly 30,000 families mourning and tens of thousands bankrupt or unemployed”, Dobrev said. During the past ten years “those on government systematically tore the country apart, step by step, into the many and the few,” she insisted. “The few”, she said, were top officials amassing assets of “hundreds and thousands of billions of forints “as against the many Hungarians earning wages and paying taxes, but still living worse and worse”.
Dobrev voiced hope that the cooperating opposition would “expel the few” at the general election next year, and referred to the primary as an “exercise” in which they could “demonstrate the difference between democrats and autocrats” and added that the candidates would be selected by voters of the opposition parties while “(ruling) Fidesz will have candidates selected by (PM) Viktor Orbán”.
In the primary “the whole team will learn how to manoeuvre on the battlefield, and support the candidate selected at the end”.
Concerning her priorities, Dobrev said that the new government should declare a “state of emergency over graft” and set up an anti-corruption organisation to work with an anti-corruption unit of the police. Each politician’s assets should be screened and “Fidesz’s oligarchs, who got rich from public funds, must be prevented from rescuing their fortune”.
Dobrev said that the government was working to remove a significant part of public assets from state control, and amass debts for the country and for the next government.
“Authors of that plan, and anyone that implemented them or had anything to do with that scheme will end up in court,” she pledged.
The candidate said the earlier system of indexing pensions should be restored and seniors compensated for “the pensions they partially lost during the past 10 years”. She also suggested that a minimum consumption of public utilities should be defined, under which gas, electricity, and water would be provided free of charge. Family benefits should be doubled in general, while single parents or parents of children with special needs should receive three times the current amount, she said.
Concerning health care, Dobrev said that
healt developments should “not only target hospital buildings, surgeries and equipment”.
The system needs 3,000 new doctors, at least 9,000 nurses and 500 general practitioners, she added.

Let’s see what the trio of AlfredE.Neuman, Maria Von Theresa and OBSERVER will have to say! Always an amusing read!
All I am asking of people is to look at the background and family history of these so called candidates.
As I have said before, I certainly am not against having an opposition if it produces a better result for
the community.
What I am is first and foremost a Hungarian.
We need statesman, not power-hungry, win at any cost kind of leader.
We need to look after ourselves first as a physically, economically healthy nation before we are capable to look after others.
Is that so wrong?
In the end, let the majority decide.
I am but a drop in the ocean.
Anonymous if you don’t agree well, it is your prerogative.
Surprise, surprise – the D.K. (“DOBREV KLARA”) party has nominated Dobrev Klara as its ‘candidate’ for Prime Minister of Hungary.
This particular individual is eminently qualified for such a nomination because of the following reasons :
1. She is married to the worst (& most vicious) Prime Minister in Hungary’s history since Janos Kadar.
2. Occupying that position will enable the evil person referred to in 1.) above – NOT Kadar ! – to actually ‘pull the strings’ and exact revenge on those Hungarians who have ‘displeased’ him over many years.
3. Her grandfather was a faithful ‘communist’ so she has the correct political ‘lineage’ to continue in Josef Stalin’s tradition of ‘purges’, which will no doubt aid the nefarious individual referred to in 1.) / 2.) above to wreak enormous havoc on Hungary.
4. She is an adherent to the flawed philosophies / politics of neo-liberalism / Socialism / Communism / Stalinism which ‘infects’ Brussels (and most European Commissioners / M.E.P.s ) ‘to the core’, so those sick pseudo-politicians in Brussels will ‘adore’ her.
5. Because of her relationship to that truly DISGUSTING ex-Prime Minister [referred to in 1.) / 2.) / 3.) above], she is EXTREMELY UNPOPULAR – indeed HATED – by most Hungarians so her nomination should prove to be DISASTROUS for her party’s chances at the 2022 elections – FANTASTIC NEWS !
6. In any event, the D.K.-dominated opposition ‘SAUSAGE PARTY’ have to defeat FIDESZ / KDNP at the 2022 elections which – judging by all recent opinion polls – will NOT happen, even EXCLUDING her poisonous influence on voters’ intentions.
Dobrev Klara should stay in Brussels and enjoy herself there – whilst she can !
This idiot wants a US type of government in the US. She stands against nationalism. This would take away the sovereignty of every country and put Hungary and others under Brussel’s Control.
This woman is dangerous. Hungarian patriots must never vote for a traitor that would remove the power of self rule.
