Elek, the retired Lion is 17 years old, who is the oldest male lion of Nyíregyháza Zoo, 250 km far from Budapest.
The life span of lions in the wild is eight years on the average, so Elek is highly esteemed in the zoo for his very old age. Vet László Garamvölgyi checked the heart of Elek, and he said, the very old lion is healthy.
