Elizabeth Bridge to close for WW2 bomb removal

Police are closing Elizabeth Bridge at 10am on Tuesday to allow a WW2 bomb to be removed from the River Danube.

Areas at both ends of the bridge and in the 11th District, along the route where the explosive is planned to be taken away, have been closed off.

Five apartment blocks, the Rudas Baths and a part of the Várkert Bazár have been evacuated, the police headquarters announced on its website.

The embankments on both sides of the river will be closed for traffic.
