Entry ban – LMP Calls on Orban to Reveal What He Knows
Budapest, November 16 (MTI) – Opposition LMP has demanded that Hungary’s prime minister should reveal what he knows in connection with the US entry ban.
Andras Schiffer, the green party’s co-leader, noted at a news conference on Sunday that Viktor Orban had told Germany’s Die Welt newspaper at the beginning of November that he took criticisms of the United States seriously and all related documents were being examined.
“This rather suggests that the prime minister still knows something,” Schiffer said, adding that he had made a public information request to Orban. He should specify in what cases of suspected corruption US organisations had provided information over the past four years. According to the regulations in force, Orban has 15 days to answer the request.
Schiffer also said that he had turned to Andre Goodfriend, the US charge d’affaires, ten days ago, asking whether information indicating crime, preparation of a crime or participation in an organised criminal group was available in connection with the persons whose entry to the US was recently restricted and whether such information had been submitted to the Hungarian authorities.
He noted that since 2008, the two countries had operated an agreement on sharing criminal data.
