(MTI) – The green opposition LMP party has a programme which fits the platforms of European green parties well, and the party is well placed to send representatives to the European Parliament, Tamas Meszerics, an LMP candidate, said.
On certain issues, however, LMP differs from the western green parties, and these differences should be represented, too, he insisted. Western parties often do not understand the problems of peripheral countries, Meszerics told a forum in Budapest on Thursday.
A strong green group in the EP is needed to stop free trade talks between the EU and the United States and to stop “ultimatums for market openings,” Andras Schiffer, the party’s co-leader, said.
