Video: thousands of running Santas take Budapest by surprise

All you needed was the classic red-and-white outfit, a long, snowy white beard, and comfy shoes to join over 4,500 fellow Santas running along Budapest’s picturesque Danube promenade.
Santa run is for everybody
It’s undeniable that Budapest ranks among the best destinations worldwide for advent celebrations—something confirmed by numerous surveys. But last Sunday, the Hungarian capital hosted a truly unique event that captivated participants and spectators alike. Crowds gathered to cheer on the runners, some even watching from one of the stunning Danube bridges as this festive spectacle unfolded.

That day marked the 10th anniversary of the Penny Santa Run — the biggest yet, according to Blikk. More than 4,500 runners set off from Fővám Square, racing along the Danube promenade towards the finish line. Families of all ages took part, from the tiniest tots to grandparents, turning the run into a joyful, shared experience.
