Europe should defend ethnic minorities, freedom of religion, says Hungarian minister
Europe should defend ethnic minorities and the freedom of religion because both national communities and traditional Christian values are exposed to attacks, Péter Szijjártó, Hungary’s minister of foreign affairs and trade, told MTI in Strasbourg on Monday.
Europe was strong only when it adhered to its traditional Christian values that are now under attack, Szijjártó said before the Monday session of the Council of Europe (CoE) Parliamentary Assembly.
There is an endeavour dictated by the strong liberal mainstream that Europe should forget its Christian values, he said.
It is regrettable that this endeavour is coupled with considerable anti-Semitism in Western Europe,
Szijjártó said, referring to the clearly anti-Semite demonstrations that erupted in western capitals after Israel had defended itself from a terrorist organisation’s attack.
Szijjártó also said that several European countries had approved legislation that restrict the rights of national minorities.
“There is a pressing need in Europe to halt these tendencies,” the minister said
Hungary, which is holding the rotating CoE presidency until late November, will spare no effort to guarantee the free exercise of religion and respect for minority rights in Europe, he said.

Europe should defend ethnic minorities and the freedom of religion
I hope you also mean English white christians in London as well, who are ,almost extinct ,
and I hope white catholics in Paris ,as well ,but I think soon both will be extinct …??
I was wondering why is it that the EU is protecting the illegal migrants’ “rights” but not their own populations’ rights?
Would someone explain that to me – since it it the European population who is paying the bills of these
self-appointed tyrants at the head of the EU – squandering the moneys that the general population is working very hard for in order to foot all the outgoings.
What happened to their RIGHTS?
Strange it may seem but the population of the EU has no say, it is never consulted, it just have to shut up
and carry the burden for all theese GROSSLY IRRESPONSIBLE decisions.
When are their rights are going to be protected?
Get rid of all these freeloading, dictatorial NGO-s, why are they allowed to infiltrate all of our countries and to take over every facet of society?
What on earth is going on here?
So, Orbánistán”s rulers do blablabla about freedom of religion, pretending to lecture the EU, that EU which indeed does ensure actual freedom of religion. This is the same regime, Orbánistan, which is in bed with China, and shamefully lobbies for China, when China is, in fact, one of the world’s top persecutors of religion, especially Christianity, that same Christianity Orbánistan claims to protect.
As for ethnic minorities, shall we speak of how gypsies are treated in Orbánistan?
What a bunch of ridiculous hypocrits these Orbanistan’s ministers.
Mario the social media mouthpiece of The NGO’s trying to over run Europe with Illegals and trying to make trouble where there is none. Just go away and tell your Daddy George Soro’s that you failed to change anyones mind. Most Hungarians are still voting for Fidesz and Orban. You don’t even live in Hungary so you do not even know the situation first hand. In my village we have Gypsies, expats from 5 different nations and there have been no cases of anyone being discriminated against since I moved here in 2014 that I am aware about. They are treated like everyone else in the village and they seem to be well intigrated in my village.
