Excessive heatwave to settle in Hungary

While extreme heat has already built Western Europe, hot conditions will continue to expand across Eastern Europe this week. We have to deal with oppressive temperatures, as Hungary might see one of its hottest conditions of this year’s summer, hvg.hu reported.

We’re having quite a heatwave, as temperatures will gradually rise throughout the week across Hungary. The temperature is expected to peak during the weekend by hitting 34 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

Today, even initially cloudy areas are expected to clear up by the afternoon. The temperature is supposed to climb as high as 25 and 29 degrees Celsius. In the areas to the east of Danube River and in Alpokalja, rain showers may also occur. The low temperature during night will not fall below 17 degrees Celsius, says meteorological service OMSZ.

On Wednesday, blue sky and sunny weather are expected throughout the day, with no rain in the forecasts for the rest of the week. The maximum temperature is expected to hit 28-30 degrees Celsius in more and more areas, says meteorological website idokep.hu

Thursday will see similarly sunny weather, with maximum 28-32 degrees Celsius in the afternoon. No clouds are expected to appear in the sky.

The hottest days during this burst of heat are expected to occur on Friday and at the weekend. The temperature will hit 30 degrees Celsius in many areas of the country, but the peak will come on Sunday when a high temperature heat 34 degrees Celsius is expected in Hungary.

The hot days combined with warm nights that are expected to prevail for much of the week in Hungary will create dangerous conditions for those that are unable to escape the heat. People should make sure to stay hydrated and check on the elderly during this surge of heat.
