Foreign minister in talks with Russian industry minister
Budapest, March 22 (MTI) – Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó held talks with the Russian trade and industry minister in Budapest on Tuesday.
Hungarian-Russian industrial cooperation has a long past, though it is not as close as it once was, Szijjártó told a press conference after meeting Denis Manturov. “Now the Hungarian government must make efforts to regain positions in certain segments of the Russian market for Hungarian businesses,” he said.
The talks focused on how Hungarian industrial companies can play a bigger role on the Russian market, Szijjártó said. Partnerships between Hungarian and Russian industrial companies on markets in third countries were also discussed, he added.
Hungary and Russia’s cooperation in the industrial sector is largely unaffected by the EU sanctions against Russia or the Russian embargo on food imports from the EU, Szijjártó noted.
