Beaver bite in Budapest: a beaver attacked a woman in the Danube

A beaver bite might initially sound unusual as a source of danger, but the number of beavers around the Danube has increased significantly over the past ten years, making such incidents not entirely uncommon.

RTL Híradó reported that a woman walking her dog in the heat of the day was knee-deep in the Danube on Népsziget in Budapest. While wading, she first felt something hit her and then experienced a sharp pain in her leg. It later transpired that a beaver had bitten her.

Dávid Nagy, the MKKP’s municipal representative, said the woman immediately ran out of the water, saw the beaver, and sought medical assistance straight away. Since then, she has had to return daily for treatments and vaccinations.

“The lady is currently going for vaccinations (…), she is receiving various treatments, it is a slightly, moderately painful, but by no means pleasant experience,” said Dávid Nagy.
