Police arrested a mid-level Chinese engineer working for CATL in Debrecen in June after the family of a minor girl filed a report. Neighbours said they were startled by noises and haven’t seen the Chinese tenants in a while.

The minor had no chance

A 35-year-old Chinese engineer allegedly lured a 16-year-old girl into his apartment in Debrecen and held her there until he raped her, according to police suspicion. The CATL manager shared the rented unit with a colleague, though it remains unclear if the coworker was aware of the horrific crime.

The underage Hungarian girl met the middle-aged Chinese man online. Neighbours say they had seen the girl with him on several occasions. The man didn’t speak Hungarian and communicated in English.

According to RTL Klub news, the situation turned horrific when the girl attempted to end the relationship. The man asked her to meet one last time at his apartment—a request she agreed to. Once there, he locked her inside and raped her. After the traumatic incident, the girl returned home, and her parents went to the police, who arrested the man in June. Authorities told the news outlet that the crime carried aggravated charges, which is understandable given the victim’s age.
