Culture, cuisine, and Christmas: A burbara masterclass from Palestine in Budapest

On a snowy day, as Christmas was celebrated according to the Eastern calendar, the Embassy of the State of Palestine organized a Palestinian cuisine masterclass dedicated to the traditional dessert Burbara.
Participants from various embassies, including ambassadors, spouses of ambassadors, and diplomats, as well as a number of Hungarian guests, joined the event to discover the story and flavors behind this beloved seasonal dish.

The class began with a presentation delivered by diplomat Sophie Daibes, who introduced the participants to the story of St. Barbara: who she was, what happened to her, her connection to Palestine, and how this rich historical and spiritual narrative lives on today through the Burbara dessert, which is traditionally prepared and shared during this season by Palestinian Christians and other Christians in the region.

The end of each colony is to collapse.
Long live the brave Christians of Palestine.
