Government builds new Congress Center next to Palace of Arts

Newspaper Nepszabadsag was informed that the Government spends HUF 1.8 billion for the preparation of the new Congress Center in Budapest. Finta Studio won the work on the architect tender. It will carry out the preparatory tasks until the end of the year.

The building, which will have a 4-5 thousand-people large room, 1200-1500-people section room, 6-8 thousand sqm of exhibition place and several smaller meeting rooms, would be built by the state, and the state will also have the ownership. The state bought the 13 sqm-large area, which was used as a parking lot and is next to the Palace of Arts, from Trigranit group last year.

The contractor’s tender will be published after the possession of the permits and the necessary resources, Balazs Furjes, Ministerial Commissioner responsible for Budapest investments said to the newspaper. According to Nepszabadsag, the cost was estimated at HUF 20-25 billion in a 2013 study. It can return in 8-10 years.
